Personalizing Store-Bought Holiday Plants

As I was entering the garden section of the store last week, I noticed a huge amount of fresh plants wrapped in cellophane and decorated for Christmas, but what really caught my eye, was the clearance prices on these healthy, beautiful plants!  While there is nothing wrong with how these plants are themed for Christmas, they did not specifically go with how my house is decorated for Christmas.  With a little imagination, it's easy to take home some inexpensive store-bought plants and transform them to work in your decor.

Since I have a garden-inspired feel to my Christmas decorations in my living and dining rooms this year, I brought home two of the ivy topiaries and dressed them up a bit.  After digging through my planters and supplies,  I removed the red bow and cellophane and simply set the plants in some of my favorite pots...
I embellished this ivy with a silver star garland that hadn't found a place yet in the holiday decor, added petite ornaments, as well as a little bird nest that I had previously set in the Christmas tree.
The other ivy is on top of my dining hutch with some leftover glass ornaments filled in around the soil...
I can enjoy these ivies well after Christmas and even decorate them up for spring. I also picked up a couple of these cute little European trees (I think they're Cyprus) to dress up as well...
Again, there is nothing wrong with the little pot and "JOY" pick, but I like to personalize them a bit...
These little trees were already encrusted in silver glitter so I set them in some mercury glass and one of my antique trophy cups to add to the sparkle.
I topped the potted trees off with some bright green Spanish moss and adorned some more ornaments and now I have some fresh and unique Christmas arrangements to spread throughout the house...easy, peasy!

Those are darling! I saw similar ivy wreaths last week but left them behind out of fear of killing them. Love what you did with your little plants!

You have such an awesome imagination, your new plants look so great and holiday. Love, love 'em. If I could get out of here today I'd go to Walmart to see if they have any.
I haven't had any plants in our house in a long time since I tend to forget them and they die. It's also very dry in our house as well as our climate here, (western CO). Just about need to put a whole bottle of lotion on everyday with the heater running.
It's been snowing here since earlier this a.m. and hasn't quit yet, yippiee, a very white Christmas. I might be older but I love the snow. Love to play in it with our dog.
You are such an inspiration in so many ways. Love your blog.
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
