Craft Room - Office Reveal

I feel like a very lucky girl... You see, I haven't always had an entire room, filled with my favorite things, to escape to and create.  It's been quite the opposite for the last 5-6 years of my creative journey!  I used to dream of a space like this...
...A place to store all my jewelry-makings, paint and paper supplies, decorating books and publications, favorite vintage finds, but I honestly never thought I'd ever have "my own room".
I started off long ago with a can of paint, paintbrush, and a piece of furniture and a desire to decorate my first  small home for as thrifty as I could.  It slowly grew into a small business to keep me busy after leaving my career to stay home with my little ones.  I would sell out of shops and set up booths at local vintage/antique shows, all the while I was working late nights and a few nap times from my tiny dining table and the three-foot section between my bed and the wall!  A family of five in a 1,900 sq ft. home with a creative, inventory-based business wasn't always easy.  There were many times before big shows that my house looked like a store itself!

After our family's move to Raleigh last year, I was completely ecstatic to just have the back of my walk-in closet in our new house to set up shop!  This closet is so big that I had an entire table in there and multiple shelves that were already in place.  After settling in and beginning to work on projects for my home and the Luckett's Spring Market last May, the back of an upstairs closet wasn't great for keeping an eye on my toddler during the day and I slowly started taking over my husband's office downstairs (which he never used!).
Since last spring, I've slowly picked away at setting it up, but I knew that I wanted the space to reflect my love of vintage finds and black and white.  Basically, my clock collection inspired and set the tone for the whole room. Each of the clocks vary in style and color, but the predominate black, white, brass, gold were pulled out to carry through to wall color, furniture hardware and paint, fabric, and accessories.
I scoured for furniture deals to stay in a tight budget and I was able to score a $65 sideboard, $75 curved desk, $65 heavy arm chair, $50 craft cabinet, $30 printer table, and a $5 chippy frame for my memo board to cover most of the big pieces.
The tall black bookcases are from IKEA that were purchased for my husband's office, but incorporated in. With a little paint and elbow grease, I worked on one project at a time to get the look I wanted.  To add some character to the builder-basic room, I added painted architectural salvage like old shutters and corner molding pieces above and around the window for mere $5...
For the window treatments, I also saved money by using electrical conduit for my bay window curtain rod and dressed it up with drawer hardware for finials and shopped fabric deals and had them sewn (thanks Mom!) versus buying expensive ready-made panels.
One of my favorite aspects of my new work space is being able to display my favorite collections and vintage finds like all of my vintage alarm clocks...
...and a vintage phone and typewriter...
as well as having all my materials for creating things at arms-length in an organized fashion!

This room is pretty much a dream-come-true for me and every time I walk in there, I feel so lucky to have the space...yep, I'm a happy, crafty girl now!

This sure gives me a little "JOLT" that I needed to go
on and finish my office re-make in process.. I am
super jealous of your fab desk- love the shape.
And the graphic ptints / black & creams are wonderful to keep it fairly neutral but punched at the same time.
