Christmas Stairs and Entryway

Before I share anymore Christmas decorations or projects in my home, I feel the need to express deep sorrow for the loss of all those beautiful children and staff in Newtown, CT.  I know it is on all of our minds and as a mother of three children (one being a first grader that turned 7 on the day of the tragedy), it is so hard to wrap our minds around this event.  I can't help but wipe back tears when I watch the news and think of all those families.  I cannot imagine how they feel and our prayers are with the entire community.

I had the sun streaming through the windows around my front door last week...I love it when it does that.  Even though the strong NC sun has pretty much toasted my front porch greenery, it's a simple pleasure for me to soak it in.   As I mentioned last year, I'm blessed with a large entryway and a large staircase to decorate for Christmas...
Being the first year in our new home, I went a little crazy and hand-tied all the greenery and ornaments to the stairs.  I simplified it quite a bit this year!

I just swagged white pine garland and added burlap bows, white and gold glass ornaments, and pine cones.  You may recognize these from my dining chairs last year.  Just a little bit of Christmas decoration recycling...
This year, I also added greenery to my arch at the top of the stairs and my milk paint (Old-Fashioned Milk Paint's Sea Green) shutters I hung a few months ago...

I also decorated my favorite old library table simply this year...
I moved my big Christmas Dough Bowl here and swapped out the silver ornaments for coppers and golds...
Just simple greenery and ornaments this year!  With yesterday's big birthday party over, I'm off to wrap some presents and start on the huge amount of cleaning and grocery shopping that needs to be done before guests arrive on Friday...it's going to be another busy week!  Have a good one...

Everything is beautiful, I love the way you wrapped your chairs last year, thanks for the inspiration. I may have to try something similar this year :)

Your home is so gorgeous, love how you've decorated everything. The simplicity is exceptional, doesn't take away from your gorgeous home, it enhances.
I have to admit every time I see your entry/library table I drool, oh how I'd love to have that table.
Would you tell me please where you got the burlap ribbon with happy holidays on it? It is burlap isn't it? I saw it on a tree on one of blogs, don't remember which one. All the talent in blog land is breath taking. I keep finding more more projects I'd love to do, will have to save them for next year.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Truly sad event. One of the little boys reminds me of my grandson. I can't shake the severity of what happened. Your entry looks beautiful. I love that wooden table.
