Two-toned Dresser and Kitchen Scale Dining Table

After losing a good week of productive time due to giving my back a rest and having a wonderful birthday and Mother's Day weekend...it felt good to get back to work in the garage today.  I can't wait to work on some of the pieces of furniture that I have lined up and I've got lots of ideas to make them look "new" again!

I've had this two-toned dresser pretty much done for a couple of weeks, but was waiting on some new hardware and help hauling it in the house for some pictures.  I was a good girl and didn't lug it in myself like I have for many other pieces and waited for my husband to help me move furniture today.
I scored this cute three-drawer dresser at an auction and loved the wood, but the drawers had quite a bit of stain discoloration making it a great candidate for painting.  Since, I'm into the natural wood and two-toned look right now, I simply painted the drawers in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White.  I shouldn't really say simply because this one was a "bleeder"!  After giving up trying to cover it with the Chalk Paint, it took several coats of Zinsser Primer to stop the stain bleedthrough.
I also cleaned up and refreshed the wood on the dresser frame.  Instead of using the original, dated hardware, I picked up these cute pulls at Hobby Lobby.  They were a dark rust color, but I dry-brushed them with some Old White...
Another auction piece that I finished is a great, sturdy dining table that I painted in Miss Mustard Seed's "Kitchen Scale".  If you've followed my blog for a while, you'll know that this is my favorite of her milk paint colors...
I just painted out the apron and the legs in the milk paint, and just like milk paint does, it resists and distresses in places...
You'll never know what you'll get :)  This one had a reasonable amount of chipping, but not so much that all the paint came off...
I'm hoping I can get these pieces up to the booth soon.  It's been a busy last couple of weeks on the home-selling front and I'm working on putting together some kind "Sophia's Moving Sale" in the next month or so...I'll keep you posted in case you're local :)

I love that chest, Kristen! It looks great with the stained surround and Old White drawers. It looks like the portion you didn't have to paint is in very good condition. I found a chair at a yard sale recently and decided not to paint {just recovered the seat}, as it looked so pretty with it's walnut finish and didn't really need to be covered up.

You inspire me so much. I just recently painted a dresser like the one in your daughter's room with the ballet slipper pink. It is beautiful. Hope you don't mind that I may copy this idea too :) I love your ideas.

Loving the 2 tone look too! So pretty....I've been using zinser shellac to stop the bleeders. One coat usually works fine.

Kitchen scale is my fave too, followed by her two greens :) Beautiful job, as per usual!
