A Bit of Christmas Past - Part One

I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving yesterday!  We have almost the whole family visiting here in NC and I finally got to meet my new little nephew yesterday.  It was a great day!

I know many of you are out shopping and planning your Christmas decorations for this year, so I thought I'd share some of my last year's Christmas decor to hopefully inspire anyone looking for ideas...
I went for a silvery mantel with fresh greenery with vintage finds mixed in...
You can check out my last year's mantel post here.  I also shared my trick to a larger-looking Christmas tree last year as I'm stuck with a small artificial tree with high ceilings...
By simply elevating the tree on an old trunk, I was able to make the tree have a little presence and have space to display gifts and my antique rocking horse...

I won't have my little rocking horse this year...it went to a good home to Christen at Blue Egg Brown Nest last spring at the Luckett's Spring Market.
You can also check out my tutorial on DIY wrapping paper here.

Hope this inspires you a bit as you plan your holiday decor!
Next up, I'll be sharing my Christmas stairs and other vignettes around the house...

  4. Kristen,
Such a wonderful way to have your tree look taller. I have that same ribbon that you have used on your stairs:) Well...I better get back to decking these halls!

    Blessings,

  5. Beautiful, Kristen! I need some inspiration as I tackle all my bins today. I just got the tree together and put the lights and some ribbon on it. Ornaments are next but as my hubby worked Black Friday at midnight {he's napping now}, I'll have to wait a little bit before I finish the tree off. Meanwhile, I'm tucking things in and making vignettes ~ quietly. : )

I loved it then and am curious as to what you will do this year. I'm sure you are out at Suzannas visiting with Marian (Miss Mustard Seed) today. Have a great holiday season.
