When I picked this cabinet up, it immediately reminded me of a 40's-50's style kitchen hutch and thought it would be fun to try out the new color with. The cabinet was definitely dreary before (sorry for the bad phone pic)...
After giving it a good scrubbing, I shook up my milk paint in a canning jar, which I find much easier than stirring by hand. I gave it two coats of the green milk paint and painted the inside of the cabinet and accents with Pure White Chalk Paint. I really like how the white looks crisp with the green.
I was thinking I'd get some good crackling, self-distressing action from the milk paint because I didn't sand down the lacquered finish prior to painting, but I just got a few spots of crackle..
After the milk paint dried, I simply sealed it with furniture wax and lightly buffed. Furniture wax really brings out the color in milk paint - love it!
After I brought the cabinet inside my house to style and take some pictures, I noticed immediately how my jadeite dished are almost the exact color of the cabinet!
This will be off to Suzanna's soon to fill in some gaps in the booth!
This is lovely. I am always interested to see the milk paint and how it reacts with surfaces. Very nice!

Just beautiful! I love it when people use unexpected colours (or colours that I wouldn't necessarily think of) and the transformation is amazing. And this really is.

I just love this so much. I was trying to get this color with mixing ASCP Antibes green with white and it ended up being the a yucky color and too yellow for some reason. I'm LOVE that Lucketts green on this piece looks like the jadeite color, which I'm after. I'm curious and don't want to mess up with the wrong color again though. The color on Miss Mustard Seed's furniture piece that she painted with Lucketts green looks more yellow than this one. I know different photo editing can alter the colors a bit. So, my rambling question is does it truly look like the jadeite color or more than what appears on MMS piece? Thanks so much.
