20 Kids' Spaces on a Budget

I've always had a soft-spot for designing/decorating kids' rooms!  They are, by far, my favorite rooms to decorate because of the opportunity to use colors, patterns, and creative elements that I won't normally use in other areas of the home.  It's just plain fun to help inject some of the unique personality of a child into their space!  I recently asked to curate a clipboard over on Hometalk of 20 Kids' Rooms on a Budget that is full of ideas to help you transform your children's rooms without breaking the bank.

Teen Room Remodel
Like any other home project, the key to transforming spaces on a minimal budget is DIY and one of the easiest projects that any homeowner can tackle is the use of paint...
Stenciled Country Living-Inspired Bedroom Makeover
Chalkboard Bookcases
From painting stripes, stenciling walls, and even using chalkboard paint, it's easy to take your child's room design up a notch without paying the designer price!  There are endless combinations of paint designs that can be used for a unique look.
Pallet Headboard - Vintage Airplane Bedroom
Another budget-saving tip is re-using and re-purposing objects and incorporating them into the design of the room.  From painting and re-finishing second-hand vintage pieces like dressers, beds, and light fixtures to using things like pallets and old signage for headboards, you'll definitely save money vs. buying brand-new furniture.
Little Girls' French-Inspired Room
Plus, your child will have a bedroom that will look different from all their friends!
Grocery Sign- Inspired Kids Room
Lastly, if you want to transform your child's bedroom on a budget, make it personal with DIY artwork.  This is also a great way to get your child involved in the design process!   My kids have always wanted to help put their own mark on their rooms.
DIY artwork - Big Girl Room Reveal
Buy up some inexpensive canvases, frames, maps, over-size letters and use mementos like favorite pictures and kids' drawings to help tell a story.  Kids will love having the design influence and it's a great time to spend together as well.
Frames - Big Girl Bedroom
Painted Cookie-Sheet Magnet Boards
The possibilities are only limited to your imagination!  There are many more inspiring ideas and adorable kids' spaces over at Hometalk...be sure to check them out!

  1. Love all of those spaces Kristen...especially your daughters' rooms and I remember following the progress of Linda's son's room a while back...she did a terrific job!...and just love the colors of the "Lily Pad Cottage" room.
