because I had a new can of chalk paint (Provence) that I knew would go right over the top without any problems and the dark finish underneath was a bonus for distressing purposes.
I simply painted on only one coat of the Provence chalk paint....
stenciled a pattern on the top with antique white acrylic paint (more on this stencil here)....
Added highlights of the white paint along the edge and legs...
Distressed the table with 220-grit sandpaper all over and finished it out with furniture wax...
all in about the span of a naptime.
It sort of has a bit of a Swedish look about it, doesn't it?
The power of a little paint always amazes me!

Very sweet. It's always a bonus when the previous finish (no matter how horrible) works to your advantage. I love the extra highlight on the edge and legs. Little details like that make a piece really special in my opinions.
ReplyDeleteJust love the Old White detailing on the top and the legs. It really makes that piece special. Provence is such a pretty color
