and knew that I wanted to try out my new can of Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint in Florence on it...
It's a super-saturated color, but reminds me of a latex color that I've used quite a bit for painting furniture for the last several years so it was a no-brainer for me to try it in chalk-paint form.
Since it is such a saturated color, I decided to tone it down with a wash that I already had mixed up from this project. I simply brushed on the glaze and wiped off the excess with a damp rag leaving behind a softer, antiqued look...
I decided to leave the white on the caning for contrast, but since it's a wash you can still see a peek of the Florence paint underneath.
After applying the wash, I simply added some silver metallic acrylic paint along the details of the chair...It's a really fun color to use, especially on smaller pieces like chairs and occasional tables to provide that pop of color without being completely overwhelming.
I can't wait to use it on some more projects with dark wax or glaze!
